My older sister Wendy is responsible for forming my taste in Music. She is 4 years older than me but was always ahead of her time growing up. She had few friends her own age she hung out with older kids and so as result of that she always listened to what would turn into being the biggest Rock Bands in the world. When I was 7 years old she had The Beatles- White Album, Jimi Hendrix- Are You Experienced are the 2 albums which I listened too over and over. Especially the Beatles who would become and remain my Favorite Band. I always wanted to tag along with my older Sister but aside from that I grew up kind of a loner.

Even before Wendy turned me on to the music she was listening to I loved to just listen to music on a transistor radio by myself. My sister listened to such great music her taste in music molded my taste in music for life. My Sister always stuck up for me and was there for me. Thank you Wendy! My very 1st big concert I attended with her and a great friend of ours from down the street named Chris Allee. I was 13 it was 8-15-1974 Edgar Winter and a new band called Bad Company. Chris bought/scalped 1 front row ticket so that I could watch from the front row! I’ll never forget that.

I got to see at 15 years old my first stadium concert. The Who in 1976 at Anaheim Stadium. Went with the Putnam brothers and that was perhaps the greatest concert I EVER attended. That and Led Zeppelin in 1973 at the Forum and Pink Floyd doing Dark Side Of The Moon when the album was released at the LA Sports Arena. That is the TOP 3 live shows.I have seen Aerosmith play probably at least a dozen times. Crowded House and or Neil Finn dozens of times also.

I have attended over 100 shows way too many to mention. Another couple standouts were Genesis during the Seconds Out Tour and seeing Peter Gabriel at the Golden Bear a small club in Huntington Beach where I grew up. I got to meet and talk to Peter Gabriel twice that night. Once before the show and then again after the show as he ran across the street after the show and jumped in the ocean. After which he spoke to a few of us on the beach. Few things in life have the capacity to evoke emotion the way music can. It can remind you of a time and place from the past. Just bring back that same feeling from a memory while listening.

Take you on a journey of the emotions of your own life through lyrics of another’s emotion. Listening to Stairway To Heaven was what moved me to pick up the guitar in 6th grade and I still love playing today. I always enjoyed the great drummers too. Watching Keith Moon, Bonzo, Phil Collins (in his prime so talented) Stewart Copeland, Buddy Rich to mention a few I got to see live. Something about watching a great drummer live. I’m so envious of that talent. What a joy to watch and listen to.
